Heart Hotel
Limassol | Cyprus

The project concerns a listed heritage building located in the historic centre of Limassol. It is an important example of Neo-Hellenic architecture, distinguished by its classical architectural characteristics. As a monument, the building primarily reinforces collective memory and the historical continuity of cultural identity. Architectural monuments serve as tangible records of history, intrinsically linked to the social and cultural values of their time. They represent the physical presence of the past and form an essential part of the region's architectural heritage.
Beyond its historical significance, the building embodies the ideological and cultural identity of the place. As a bearer of Hellenic architectural tradition, its preservation safeguards the continuity of this legacy while ensuring its survival for future generations. In doing so, it also contributes to broader cultural and educational objectives, fostering appreciation, knowledge, and awareness among those who will experience it in the years to come.

Buildings of this nature invariably play a significant role in the development of cultural tourism, becoming destinations in their own right. This is even more relevant when the building is intended for hospitality use. This is precisely where our focus lies: allowing the building itself to become the reason for visiting—a landmark worthy of photography, editorial features, books, and publications—while simultaneously fulfilling its intended hospitality function in a meaningful and memorable way.

Our design approach begins with defining the essence and narrative of the project. At the same time, it establishes, from the outset, a clear framework within which every design decision can evolve. The defining parameters of this process are the location, the building itself, its intended use, and the identity and vision of the business it will accommodate.
With complete respect for these foundations, our proposal adopts a contemporary, refined, and urban design language. The interior is conceived with an almost museum-like sensibility, creating an atmosphere of carefully curated temporality—not through the architecture itself, but through the concept of freely installed interventions that coexist within the historic shell. The new elements are intentionally perceived as independent insertions, allowing the existing architecture to remain the principal protagonist.

The central concept is inspired by the notion of the heartbeat, establishing a direct conceptual relationship with the HEART brand. A heartbeat is a rhythmic movement, an alternating motion between opposing directions. Metaphorically, it represents vitality, energy, emotion, and enthusiasm—the force that animates life. It becomes a gesture of movement and rhythm through which an existing environment is reactivated and infused with new life.

Our ambition is to develop a construction system that functions much like the structure of a living organism. The primary structural framework will be conceived as a freestanding installation within the existing building. Rather than becoming an extension of the historic architecture, it will deliberately contrast with it, establishing a clear dialogue between old and new. Individual components and functional elements will connect to this unified structural system according to the specific requirements of each space. A carefully curated collection of modular, standardized architectural and decorative elements will create a coherent identity and spatial order, supporting an innovative and alternative approach to interior architecture for hospitality environments.
